Opening of Bergamo at Resorts World

Before June ends, I have one final feature to cap off my posts for this month. The calm after the storm proved to be a night of pure glitz and style. Bergamo - who I believe unbiasedly is the country's best in tailoring - just opened its newest store in the country biggest recreational hotspot. Resorts World is growing to be a famous destination for both tourists and locals. It's becoming extremely famous for its casino, bars and bistros, and shopping stores. Not missing out on the fun, Bergamo officially had its Resorts World store opening and blessing last June 25.

The interior of the store was a modern twist on classic romance. The doorway has two columns designed with carefully etched vines. Two balconies are inside the store with one side showcasing a male mannequin, while the other a female. Bergamo now caters also to women with their couture services and off the rack dresses. Contrasting details blended with a classical painting - of maybe Renaissance in origin - juxtapose the ball chandeliers. The effect of the light somehow gives the illusion that sparkling crystal bubbles are suspended in the air.

The highlight of the evening for me was the wonderful Ms. Kate Torralba. I know her as a really funky designer; I didn't expect that she was a great musician. Her fingers just played the piano with ease and her voice captivated the audience. We were all amazed with her and just couldn't get our attention off of her.

The afterparty was held at Opus with everybody just having more fun after the launch.

The Best of Bergamo (Spring / Summer 2011)

One thing I've always appreciated with Bergamo is how their clothes always have a fresh and clean look. Adding to this is the constantly changing designs to provide clients with exclusivity and modernity. It's no wonder that the style savvy men has always preferred the brand.

Here are my top picks from their latest collection.

A beach groom look. This is perfect for guys attending beach weddings this season. It's simple yet appropriate. The design also provides air to pass through keeping a level of coolness in the humid weather.

For a more standout look, opt for this metallic inspired barong in subtle, shiny shade of silver gray. The floral embroidery gives this look a playful twist.

Themed weddings have recently been a choice of many. This ensemble provides a debonair but fairytale like look. The only thing you need for this outfit is the matching white horse.

My ultimate favorite. This coat is reminiscent of the Indian costume, Sherwani. The gold brocade design is complemented by the gold colored silk pants. The collar piping and pants edges are colored black to balance the bold color of the entire look.

The Jazz Cocktails Part II

Once again Bergamo treated their clients to a night of great style, food, and all that jazz. Bergamo had a part 2 of their Jazz Cocktails to unveil a different set of collections that their eager clients can look forward to. The Greenbelt 5 flagship store became a runway once more for guests to view the newest looks that Bergamo has to offer. The event again gave the public a chance to hear the talents of Doctor Michael Young and his sax.

Bergamo's Jazz Cocktails (Recounting Events # 1)

Bergamo is one of the country's premiere haberdasher specializing both on tailoring and ready to wear. It is one of the most recognizable names in Philippine fashion being the go to store for the casual, corporate, to formal wear of Manila's stylish men. The brand may sound distinctly foreign but the company is actually Filipino owned and has been in the industry for more than 25 years.

I was invited to attend the initial preview of their summer collection at their Greenbelt 5 flagship store. The intimate event entitled "Jazz Cocktails" included a select clientele loyal to the ever changing style of the brand. Guests were serenaded by the spectacular Michael Young on sax, while being served Japanese h'ordeurves and wine.

The first set had a more casual look for the season. The pieces dabbled mostly on neutral colors with variation of details in fabrics, prints and piping. Light materials were used consisting mostly of linen – fitting for the summer season in the country.

The second set had a dash of bright colors, playing with lavender, pink and blue, with knitted suit pieces highlighting a stylish resort to formal look. Fabrics ranged from linen, silk to light wool showcasing a functional collection with an easy feel.
